The Movie:
Oye! is a clean and heart-touching youthful romantic entertainer, a romantic tale between two entirely different persons.
The Story:
This romantic tale begins with two entirely different persons, Uday (Siddharth) and Sandhya (Shamili). Uday is a rich and spoilt brat who believes in short term pleasures. Sandhya is a lonelier middle-class girl with the girl-next-door looks, who lives on her own. She is a responsible girl with long term plans and strict principles. Sandhya happens to be an orthodox girl living in Vizag and she has strong faith in numerology and other aspects. Uday meets her for the first time in a pub while she calls her with Oye for a tissue paper and he instantly falls in love with her.
With the help of his friend Fatso (krishnudu), Uday locates the place of Sandhya and eventually hides his true identity and stays as a paying guest at her place. Uday trying to woo her in all the ways he can. Soon, he begins to convey his feelings for her and though Sandhya is stern in the start, she slowly begins to like him and eventually they fall in love. When everything is going well, a shocking truth is revealed which changes the path of their lives. Uday comes to know that Sandhya is suffering from cancer and her days are numbered. But Sandhya is not aware of it. The rest of the story is all about how they face it and how Uday makes Sandhya realise all her unfulfilled wishes.
Performances:
Siddharth, again, comes up with a wonderful role. He come up again with energetic and fulfilled performance. He is shown in a much matured way and he does full justice to his role. It is only in the emotional scenes that Siddhartha fails to impress.
Shamili, the surprise package of the film, makes a good impact with her sweet innocent looks in her debut film as heroine and she did it really well. The way she addresses the hero as “Oye!” is really cute.
Napolean plays the role of Siddhartha’s maternal uncle and he has a very short role. Surekha Vani looks glamorous in t-shirts and jeans. Sunil’s comedy is okay. Ali and master Bharat also try their hand at raising some laughter. Krishnudu is supposed to play a full length comedian in the film but he disappears before the interval only to make an appearance towards the end. Krishnudu continues his innocent guy act from Vinayakudu.
Music by Yuvan Shankar Raja is really good to listen and songs are lighthearted and keeping with the mood of the film. Vijay K Chakravarthy’s cinematography also is up to the mark.
The Director, Ananda Ranga proved himself as a good director and has presented a decent love story.
The Plus:
Siddharth’s energetic performance as a love-struck youth.
Shamili’s acting is quite natural and she is very much apt for the role.
Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music
Vijay K Chakravarthy’s cinematography
The Minus:
Siddharth fail to impress the audience in emotional scenes
Low comedy quotient
Second half of the film gets heavy with sentiments.
Verdict:
A decent love story. Watch it with the loved-ones.
