Kandasamy (Mallanna) Releasing Today, creates History in South Indian Cinema

At last, The much awaited bilingual film Kandasamy (Mallanna in Telugu) is all set to hit the screens today not only in India but all over the world simultaneously.

The film Kandasamy (Mallanna) features Vikam and Shreya Saran in the lead is produced lavishly by Kalaipuli S. Thanu with a mega budget of over 32 cores. The film is directed by Susi Ganesan.

It is a first south indian ‘Super Hero’ film in which Vikam plays as super hero with supernatural power to kick off the bad guys around. Telugu actor Krishna playing a prominant role in the film.

The film is being released worldwide with 900 prints. With 900 prints, the film makes a bumper opening, biggest after Rajnikanth’s Sivaji and Kamal Hassan’s Dasavathaaram. No other dubbed or bilingual film was released in such a big way and hence Kandasamy (Mallanna) creates history in both Tamil and Telugu cinema.

Abirami Ramanathan, the owner of Abirami Theatres and Shopping Mall as well as the one of the top distributors of Tamil films has purchased the Kandasamy distribution rights of Chennai area for a whopping Rs 4 crore.

In Chennai, with a record number of 18 screens, the advance booking for Kandasamy started on August 16 with all tickets were completely booked for the entire first week within a couple of hours after the booking opened.

Notable Tollywood producer Dil Raju has bagged the telugu version distribution rights for Mallanna and he acquired the distribution rights for the film in three territories.

In AP, 49 theatres have been allocated for Mallanna in Hyderabad and Secunderabad which is a record for a Tamil hero’s film except Rajni’s film Sivaji - The Boss which was released in around fifty theatres in the twin cities. Despite the Teleugu movie Magadheera running to packed houses even in the third week, Dil Raju is confident enough to release the movie.

The film will be released in all the major multiplexes in the the country as well as a grand release in Kerala, while in Karnataka, well known Kannada film producer Ramu has acquired the distribution rights of both the versions of the film.

The film is also hitting the international space in a big way. In US, the two versions of Vikram’s film will be released in cities like New Jersey, Virginia, Chicago, California, Atlanta, Detroit, Kansas City, Tulsa, Minneapolis, Bloomington, Milwaukee, Memphis, Columbus, Ohio, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Boston-Cambridge, Connecticut, Delware, Seattle, Houston and Denver to mention a few.

Besides the US, the film will also be released in the UK, Sri Lanka, Kuwait, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Germany, Canada, and Austria. Efforts are being made to release the film simultaneously in South Africa too. If that happens, Kandasamy may well become the first film to be released simultaneously on South African soil.
