The Movie:

Blue is the one of the most expected movies of this year. Also it is the costliest film made on a lavish budget of 100 Crore as the filmmakers had claimed it to be cleaving to the Hollywood standards. Blue sets a different benchmark for the action movies of Bollywood. Lets see whether its really worth to spend 100 bucks for tickets to watch a 100 Crore film.

The Story:

The story is bit messy and blurred one but the action-packed sequences makes the audience to forget the logic behind it. The story revolves around a treasure that is under deep blue sea.

Aarav Malhotra (Akshay Kumar)  is a multi-millionaire owns the Blue Fisheries and Shipping company. He is in thirst of exploring a treature beneath the blue sea in Bahamas. To achieve this, he convinces Sagar Singh (Sunjay Dutt) who romances a stunning, gorgeous beauty Mona (Lara Dutta) who is half of his age.

Samir Singh/ Sam (Zayed Khan) is Sagar’s younger brother and is based in Bangkok. He is a weird person with weird habits. He is flirt and loves racing with bikes. Sam fails in an assignment given to him by Gulshan (Rahul Dev) and owes him $50 million. Sam returns to Bahamas as his life is under danger. He is traced to Bahamas by Gulshan and his henchmen. Since Aarav is already interested in finding the treasure under the sea, Aarav, Sagar and Sam then decide to retrieve the treasure from sunken Indian Navy ship Lady in Blue to pay off Gulshan. The treasure is of those Britain rich persons who were came in India before 1947. On there way back to Britain in 1949, the ship wrecks in Bahamas and treasure lost into water for more than a half century. Whether the trio found the treasure under the sea makes rest of the film.

Performances:

Sanjay Dutt looks tired in this film as he is already 50 and still romancing the hot Lara Dutta who is nearly half of is age. Lara Dutta looks stunning in bikini. Bollywood had never seen her so hot and beautiful in such a glamorous role before. But the romancing Dutt-Dutta pair looks disgusting and the sanjay dutt role demanded a much younger actor.

Akshay kumar has done a worthy role in the film. You will see Akshay Kumar having stunts with Sharks. But still, he is better than the other characters in the film. Zayeed Khan has done better than what we have seen him in the past. Rahul Dev has a lengthier role. There are two HOT surprises in the film and they are Katrina Kaif and Kylie Minogue. Katrina Kaif has made her appearance in this film for few minutes and leaves her mark on screen. Kylie Minogue has also done a cameo role in the film.

Debutant director Anthony D’Souza, also the co-writer of screenplay, makes a fine debut but leaves a lot to be desired. If he had a tighter story and believable reasons to justify the motives of the characters in ‘Blue’, the film could have been an absolute delight and an edge-of-the-seat experience. AR Rahman’s music is good as usual. The film fails due to loose-script and senseless dialogues. But there are other things which are good in the flim like  A.R Rehman’s music, fascinating cinematography, art design, thrills and dress designing.

Hollywood cinematographer Pete Zuccarini’s camera captures the beauty of the water world brilliantly. The visual splendour of the sea has never been captured before in any Indian film like it is in Blue. Pete Zuccarini, who has ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ to his credit.

Verdict:

As an innovative attempt in Indian cinema, the film takes you to another world below the sea. Watch it if you love action adventures with unique style and never-mind about the storyline.
